Allan Rich

Allan Rich is a two-time Oscar®, Grammy®, Golden Globe®, and Emmy®- nominated songwriter whose songs have sold more than 65 million copies around the world. 
Most notably, Rich wrote Whitney Houston’s “Run To You” from The Bodyguard soundtrack, for which he was nominated for both an Oscar and a Grammy.  His song was also performed every night in the smash hit musical of The Bodyguard that toured for five years.

Rich’s second Academy Award nomination was accompanied with both a Grammy and Golden Globe nomination for his #1 Adult Contemporary song, “For The First Time,” performed by Kenny Loggins on the soundtrack for One Fine Day, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney.

Rich’s first hit song was Natalie Cole’s top 10 pop hit ballad “I Live For Your Love” co-written with Pam Reswick and Steve Werfel.  The next year, he co-wrote (with longtime writing partner Jud Friedman) James Ingram’s #1 pop and #1 adult contemporary song “I Don’t Have The Heart.”  In the following years, Rich’s hits include Oleta Adam’s #1 Adult contemporary song “I Just Had To Hear Your Voice,” “I Drive Myself Crazy,” (NSync) and landed songs in Runaway Bride, Outrageous Fortune, Sweet Liberty as well as Playing For Keeps.  Rich also scored two #1 dance singles “Stronger” and “Walk Away” by Kristine W.

Rich’s songwriting catalog includes cuts performed and recorded by a wealth of A-list recording artists including Barbra Streisand, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Luther Vandross, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Ray Charles, Dolly Parton, Barry Manilow, Toni Braxton, George Benson, BeBe and CeCe Winans, and many others.

Internationally, Rich has scored #1 songs in Italy with Italian superstar Giorgia and Elisa with “No Hero.” In 2020, Allan was nominated for a Daytime Emmy as a co-executive producer for the acclaimed digital series “After Forever.” He is presently executive producer of the documentary “Viva Verdi” about the famous Verdi House the classical composer left for retired opera singers and musicians, which is slated for release later this year.

A New York native, Allan currently resides in Los Angeles with his dog Charlie, and has a degree in Sociology from Queen’s College and mentors young students at the Musicians Institute of Los Angeles.
